BIOGRAPHY
When she was 12 years old, her brothers came home from college and told her that a guy by the name of George Shauer could spin a basketball on his finger and they showed her how to do it the way they saw it and that was the beginning of something that would change her life forever. She practiced and practiced and one day, while she was going to school at South Dakota State University, she was asked to perform a small basketball show for one of the games and the rest is history. Tanya graduated from high school in Jefferson, South Dakota. She lettered in four sports at South Dakota State University at Brookings. She has been named Female Athlete of the Year in South Dakota and played women's pro basketball for the Women's Basketball League (WBL) for three years; two years with the Iowa Cornets and was then drafted by the San Francisco Pioneers. She was named Distinguished Alumni for South Dakota State University, Woman of the Year for the South Dakota Sports Writer's Hall of Fame and was also inducted into the Hall of Fame for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
